Oona Insurance Indonesia strengthens its position in the general insurance industry through digital innovation and sustainable growth

Jakarta, 30 October 2025 – Just three years after its launch, Oona Insurance Indonesia, a leading digital general insurer in Indonesia, has become one of the country’s Top 10 motor vehicle insurers. The digital-first insurer has quickly cemented its market position and is now accelerating growth across all segments as it strengthens its multi-line expansion strategy.

Our performance this year and becoming a top 10 insurer for motor vehicle is testament to a good strategy executed really well. It’s gratifying to see all our tech investment and claims excellence driving customer satisfaction as well as a great set of numbers. We are positioned really well to capture future growth across products and channels,” said Abhishek Bhatia, Founder and Group CEO of Oona Insurance Group

The company reported a 67% increase in profit in the third quarter of 2025, reflecting disciplined underwriting and operational efficiency. Gross written premium growth in Q3 rose by 16% year-on-year, more than double the industry average. Oona expects continued double-digit growth by the end of the year, supported by strong performance in motor and steady momentum across retail lines.

“Motor insurance remains Oona’s core strength and growth engine, a segment that continues to build deep customer trust,” said Vincent C. Soegianto, CEO and President Director of Oona Insurance Indonesia. “We’ve built this business on strong fundamentals, not quick wins. Our focus now is to grow faster across all product lines while keeping protection simple, reliable, and built to last,”

Oona has also established a leadership position in the emerging field of electric vehicle insurance, supported by specialized repair networks and tailored pricing models. In the first half of 2025, Oona’s EV portfolio grew more than sevenfold compared to the same period last year – a clear sign of rising consumer confidence in its EV protection offerings.

Powered by Oona’s proprietary technology ecosystem, the company delivers protection seamlessly across all customer touchpoints, from embedded insurance offered through API integrations with partners to retail products like travel, motor, and health plans available on myoona.id. Together, these platforms make protection simple, accessible, and effortless for both customers and partners.

Oona Insurance Indonesia now protects over a million customers across embedded, digital, and traditional channels. Direct-to-consumer sales have also surged, with new policy issuances more than tripling compared to the same period last year.

Recent partnerships include Green SM, where Oona Insurance Indonesia embeds Personal Accident and lost item cover within the eco-mobility app, and VFS Global, where it provides Schengen-compliant travel insurance at visa application centres.

As OONA Insurance Indonesia continues to grow, its focus remains on building protection that evolves with customers’ needs to ensure that it stays relevant. The company’s strengthened bottom line is testament of our focus and positions the company well for continued profitable growth in 2026 and beyond.
